Welcome Letter

Welcome

6th Forum on Respiratory Tract infections

Dear Colleagues & Friends

It’s a great pleasure – as the conference chair– to welcome you to the 6th Forum on Respiratory Tract Infections Forum which takes place from 5th – 7th February 2024 in the wonderful city of Glasgow.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the past several years of scientific progress have clearly placed respiratory tract infections at the centre of public health, clinical practice and scientific debate. The diversity and importance of respiratory tract infections and the multidisciplinary nature of their treatment necessitates close collaboration between specialities and different professionals. It is therefore the perfect moment for an internal clinical and translational research meeting focused on respiratory tract infections.

Covering topics including pneumonia, COVID-19, respiratory viruses, chronic lung infections, mycobacterial and fungal diseases the Respiratory Tract Infections Forum promises to be an exciting and stimulating environment for learning and the development of new collaborations.

We have truly seen breakthroughs in treatment and vaccinology in recent years that will change our way forward for respiratory tract infections, promising a potential “golden age” of respiratory research, particularly in infections.

We invite you to enjoy the congress and actively contribute to the Golden age of Respiratory Research.

James D. Chalmers
Chairman of the 6th RTI Forum
